Why I want to become a DominicanLife Testimony of Novice Guillermo Méndez
I am an anthropologist graduate of the Central University of Venezuela. I was born on May 9 1974, in Caracas (Venezuela). I have worked as a research assistant at the Central University of Venezuela and my interests are social subjects and urban anthropology.
I discovered the Order of Preachers in 1980 when enrolling in Saint Thomas Aquinas School. Later in 1991 I finished my fundamental studies. In 2007, I manifested my free will to be a Dominican Friar and moved into Saint Hyacinth’s Priory in Caracas, where I helped with the sacristy and the pastor’s coordination of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
In June 2009, I entered into Friar Bartolome de las Casas’ Priory and began my institutional formation in the province of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. At this moment, I’m doing my novitiate in Saint Joseph’s House in Kowloong Tong (Hong Kong).
