Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner II,OP has been elected Master of the Order of Preachers in the ongoing General Chapter held in Biên Hoà (Vietnam) on July 13, 2019, He is also the first Asian Dominican friar to be elected as the successor 88 of Saint Dominic de Guzmán.
Fr. Gerard was born in Daet in Camerines Norte of Phillipines on January 26, 1968. He studied Philosophy in the Philippine Dominican Centre of International Studies in 1991, Theology in University of Saint Thomas in Philippines. He also studied a Doctorate in Sacred Theology at the Catholic University of Nijmegen in 2004. He is son of the Province of Philippines, and recently was the socious of the Master of the Order for Asia Pacific.
Pope Francis appointed him as a member of the International Theological Commission of the Vatican in 2014.
The Province celebrates this election and pray for his service as head of the Order of Preachers in this coming 9 years.
