On September 23, 2020, at 8:30 p.m. the Novice Master and the novices offered a special Mass for the eternal repose of the soul of Fr. Edixsandro in the Chapel of St. Albert Priory, Hong Kong.

In his sharing, Fr. Raymond, the then assistant novice master, recalled his fond memory of Fr. Edixsandro in the year 2009-2010.

The novitiate has three collections of Dominican Saints painted by Fr. Edixsandro in the year 2010. These paintings are well preserved in the novitiate corridor. They have been constant reminders to the different group of novices as they admire those beautiful and serene portraits of the saint with wonder. They are vivid testimonies that preaching and service of the Gospel could be accomplished in various ways. They also invited us to think about how we can best serve the Lord and his Church with our talents and learnings. Are we to trade them with joy or bury them on the ground with fear?

Fr. Edixsandro was not only an artist but also an animator of the small community of the novitiate with his wide smiles. He was a joyful person and that joy radiant.

May our good Lord grant eternal rest to this “Joyful Friar” of ours.
