On June 20, 2021, despite the effect of the Covid pandemic and the limitation on the number of people who could be together and people who are permited to attend public gatherings, for the Dominicans, it was also a special day because our Brothers Fr. Martin, OP., Fr. Albert, OP., and Fr. Henry, OP. were ordained Priests in the Chapel of Rosary hill School, St. Albert Priory in Hong Kong.

The Ceremony was presided over by his Eminence Cardinal John Tong Hon, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Hong Kong, who has always been supportive of our Brothers here in Hong Kong and Macau. Cardinal Joseph Zen and Mons Javier, the Delegate of The Holy See were also present.

The Ordination Eucharist began at 3:00 pm and was attended by all of our Dominican Brothers residing in Hong Kong. Some of the relatives, friends of the three Brothers as well as their professors and classmates from Holy Spirit Seminary, where they had their institutional studies, also joined the celebration.

The ceremony was enhanced by our Novices and Student Brothers who made it a very beautiful and solemn celebration by their singing and altar services. The Gospel Reading was taken from the liturgy of the day which describes how our Lord calmed the storm. As He has been with us all the time He will continue to do so as He promised.

At the end of the celebration Fr. Henry delivered his speech of thanksgiving in which he expressed deep gratitude to God and His Eminence Cardinal John Tong Hon. He also gave special thanks to the brothers of the Province and Fr. Bonifacio Garcia Solis, our Prior Provincial, and Fr. Hyathinth, the Prior of St. Albert Priory for their support and tender care, as well as to their formators, teachers, and the members of the communities where they were formed.

Confronted with the many challenges and difficulties at the present moment, we are not losing hope, and the three newly ordained pledged to be committed to preaching for the salvation of souls. May the Lord grant his abundant grace to the newly Ordained Brothers so that they may be faithful to the mission entrusted to them by the Order through the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary.
