On November 4th, the Dominican community in Hong Kong gathered to honor and remember the souls of their departed missionaries from Spain, who belonged to the Our Lady of the Rosary Province of the Order of Preachers. As part of the month dedicated to praying for the souls in purgatory, the Dominican friars, including the Novice Brothers and Lay Dominicans, held a solemn Mass at the Catholic cemetery where these devoted missionaries are laid to rest.
The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to those who traveled from Spain to spread the Gospel and serve the community in Hong Kong. The Mass was celebrated with deep reverence, as the friars and lay members offered prayers and reflections, remembering the legacy and contributions of the missionaries who have gone before them.
This annual tradition not only strengthens the bonds within the Dominican community but also serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of the missionaries' work. As the community gathered in prayer, they reaffirmed their commitment to continue the mission of their predecessors with faith and dedication.
The event was a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of the living and the departed, and the importance of remembering and praying for those who have passed on. The Dominican community in Hong Kong remains grateful for the sacrifices and devotion of their Spanish missionaries, whose spirits continue to inspire and guide them.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
