The seventh day of the Provincial Chapter of the Dominicans of the Our Lady of the Rosary Province, held on August 24, 2025, at the Royal Monastery St. Thomas  in Ávila, Spain, was a special day that combined the Sunday liturgical celebration with a cultural and fraternal visit to the city of Salamanca. Below is a detailed chronicle of the day’s activities.

August 24, 2025 (Sunday)

The day began with Masses in two languages and continued with an excursion that honored the history and spirituality of the Province.

-10:30 – Misa dominical (Misa en inglés y español) (Sunday Mass): The morning began with the Sunday Mass celebrated in both English and Spanish. The English Mass was held in the Convent chapel, while the Spanish Mass took place in the Church, allowing the brothers to participate according to their preferred language.

-13:30 – Comida (Lunch): The midday meal provided a moment of fellowship before the scheduled excursion.

-Afternoon – Visit to Salamanca: After lunch, many of the brothers, mostly those from Asia, paid tribute to the city of Salamanca with a guided tour. The Prior of St. Stephen’s Convent, from where many of our Province’s forefathers departed for the New World and the Far East missions centuries ago, led the tour, highlighting the rich missionary history of the Order.

Subsequently, the brothers visited the Dominican nuns of the Monastery of St. Mary of Dueñas. The cloistered nuns welcomed them with warm smiles, offering a fraternal encounter filled with spirituality.

Afterward, the group enjoyed a city walk and visited the University of Salamanca, a symbol of knowledge and tradition. The brothers thoroughly enjoyed the day, strengthening community bonds and appreciating the cultural and historical heritage.

-21:00 – Cena (Dinner): Dinner closed the day, providing space to share experiences from the excursion and reflect on the day.

This visit to Salamanca not only offered a break from the chapter’s work but also connected the brothers with the Province’s missionary legacy, enriching their sense of identity and purpose as they approach the chapter’s conclusion.
